So many fonken threads!

I have been away from the forum for a bit and trying to get back up to speed. It is like returning to the home country and forgetting the language. Fonken, Onken, yikes.

I have a pair of FE167E's and some Planet 10 phase plugs, some time, and a capable wood shop. What I can't seem to find are the plans for the Fonken167 that I feel certain I had at one point but can't find on the forum, Planet10, or my hard drive.

Unless there is some new box for what I have just discovered is a discontinued driver, my remembrance is that there was a consensus that the big Chang's and the Fonken 167 coaxed the best out of these puppies.

Maybe this should be a back channel direct to Dave, but I can't imagine the volume of email to him and I might be missing something obvious.

I don't think anyone has heard every possible design for the FE167, but of the 3 or 4 that I have ( Fostex's "recommended" BR / MLTL similar to Bob Brines', and the aforementioned Fonkens,) I have an understandable soft spot for the latter.

In any case, there have been some variations on the design drawings for the following reasons:
- allow for woofer(s) the lower cavity,
- wider front baffle to accommodate frames for grilles to clear the elevated diffraction ring,
- smaller main enclosure only, I guess you could call it a tall stand mounter

I've only built the original design .

If you'd like to try this design, I wouldn't feel concerned about contacting Dave directly for whichever version you think would suit your needs.
