SMPS400A400 additional capacitance?

I plan to use a Hypex SMPS400A400 to power a stereo AB100 integrated amplifier. My question is: has anyone added additional capactitance on the amplifier boards with this SMPS? I contacted Hypex and they just said "Our SMPS’s have sufficient capacitance for the power they can deliver. Adding extra capacitance may be possible but it is not required and not supported. Doing so will be at your own risk." Not very helpful. If you aren't familiar, the AB100 boards have places for four capacitors on the board. I have 4700uF 80V capacitors to put in those spots if it can handle it.

I tried a few years back and iirc I could add some but not much. Don't remember the details however you will quickly find out if it works or not as the smps protection circuits will kick-in and shut it down and start up repeatedly when its too much.

Hello,

On the Hypex website, they state that SMPS modules are protected against overcurrents, and that you can add capacitors to the output as long as the power supply doesn't go into hiccup mode.
The best solution for you is therefore to experiment by adding capacitors until you achieve this hiccup mode and remove some of the added capacitors to maintain a current consumption margin.
