SMPS Dual Supp

If I have 2 x 12VDC Mean Well type SMPSs, can I connect them in series to get a +24 output and a -24 output and a Ov output? Ive attached a pic. Id like yo use this is a replacement for an unregulated dual secondary supply for LM3886

No. You will get +/- 12 volt. You will see 24 volt between the -12v and +12v.

You need 2 more 12v ones to get +/-24v as a +/-24v system svings 48 volt from top to toe.

Right thanks, is there any drawback to using this config vs your typical transformer based unregulated supply with rectifier?

SMPS has it's "noise" on higher frequencies. Transformer based has them at the mains freq and multiples of it.

In my book they are OK.

Upsides are efficiency. I think the whole industry is going towards SMPS.
