Small Portable 3 Way Multi Entry Horn

I kinda wish I had done something like that now.

I might try and recreate the dip in the sim and see what I can do to fix it. I could also try having multiple smaller taps in the same was I have done the mid.

Or just start again and make a slightly larger box that goes lower

I have seen that before but the inspiration was something I saw on here, possibly something Patrick Bateman posted.

I have managed to do some more measurements and it is definitely the bass ports! Green is them covered.

I'm gonna do some more simming to try and fix this. Try smaller taps as the mid taps don't seem to affecting the hf response.

Well I’m not going to be the guy that say I told you so, because I forgot to mention the resonance visible in the impedance sweep apparently.

I have read through all the patents but will have another read. I did think this might cause me some issues and I would need to try smaller taps. I wanted to see how it would go with a much smaller waveguide though.

I have modelled this in Akabak to try smaller taps.

Might be quicker to print and measure it though haha. I feel like this model then simming the bass taps is going to take a while.

The model has 35 subdomains and 61 interfaces with Y symmetry

I have run the sim with just the mid ports and just the bass ports. Was interested in how the bass ports will affect the mid response.

It still had a large cancellation, I am running it again but over a wider frequency range. I am also trying something else and I'm going to read more patents.

I tried using this driver in a slot simming using LEM but it required too large a rear chamber to get the same response, the box would be way too big. I would need to use one driver and it limits the max volume too much.

I could try using a larger driver but it would mean buying more drivers haha.

I have run some more sims since last week. I am gonna try angling the ports like they do on the CMI but I seem to have got good results for the mid even just with smaller ports.

With the sim for the 6 inch drivers it took over 2 days but Akabak claims to only have taken 22 hours

This response is a bit mad, I think I will be able to smooth it out. It took over 2 days and all of my RAM to get these 10 points haha

Been a long time since I have looked at this but I have been doing some more experimenting.

It seems like the CMI patent ideas don't apply in this situation.

I have been covering different ports and taking measurements to see what cancellations I am getting.

With different ports I get different amounts of cancellations.

The ports are all small and angled following the rules in the CMI patent.

The measurements are with some quick EQ on both the mid and hf and measured with the microphone in the mouth of the horn but it gives a vague idea of cancellations.
