hello.
Since starting to experiment with horn loaded and hybrid enclosures (sub scoop and cubo line) I was wondering, if there is any designs for 8" driver and for midbass and up.
Ihave Precision devices PD.8bm20 and Peavey 22A CM. so far i simply made the recomendated box for them and let them be.
BUT!
After hearing how much louder are horn and Hybrid enclosures i was thinking about using my 8" drivers also in some hybrid/horn box.
So the search for a plan started, but unfortunally none was found (only 12"-18" enclosures)
My goal here is to get them louder than reflex/sealed enclosure can. cutoff will be in the 70Hz region. ill add T/S parameters so maby someone can help me out with them.
Tryed hornresp, but still long learning curve ahead. Box size wont be a much a problem, as long its witdh wont exeed 12" driver.
so the T/S
Fs 49.04 Hz
Re 5.86 Ω
Qms 7.28
Qes 0.42
Qts 0.4
Le (@1 kHz)
Le (@10 kHz) 0.52 mh
Vas 22.18 litres
Mms 34.42 g
Sd 226.98 cm2
Cms 306.33 µm/N
BL 12.48 T/m
Xmax 4.5 mm
Vd 0.102 litres
Ref. Efficiency 0.90%
EBP 116.76 Hz
PS! Sorry for my english, havent written in a english in a 20y
and greets from Estonia.

so any no ideas.
Ok. ill throw some ideas that are lingering in my head.
downscaled cubo kick.
downscaled MT102 for 1 driver.
feel free to throw in some experimental stuff.

Do a search for a Synergy horn build, there have been several documented here and elsewhere

The thing with synergy horns was that, it uses 2 mid woofers per channel. I have 1 tweet and 1 midbass per channel.
You can use a single mid woofer in a synergy horn there is no intrinsic need for symmetry.
your aiming to have your midbass cover 70Hz - 1200hz for the Peavey 22A CM? this is quite tricky as your trying to cover such a wide band of frequencies. Usually a horn would only work over a narrow band say 100-400Hz (2 octaves). You could try a Paraflex design:

While it may function as a “horn” over a couple octaves (with a boost in driver impedance) it functions as a waveguide above that. As it does over the tweeter’s full operational range. You will have to measure to see how high the midbass’s effective range ends up. Offset driver horns have an upper limit even as a waveguide. Expect the low end to be a problem too - 100 Hz is about as low as practical, and you will want some sort of reflex loading or it won’t even get there with a typical pro 8”. And 100 Hz requires a pretty big flare. Fully deployed, Art’s design is not tiny. It can be run without the extra flare, but you will lose low end output. Then again, if you don’t need that much and would be ok with just a regular old reflex cab output-wise, the synergy may still offer advantages. But the bigger caution is about the upper crossover frequency. You just CANT make the mid bass go up to any 2 or 3 kHz because of the driver Z-offset. Which means that $50 compression drivers can’t play in that particular sandbox at PA levels (try crossing one down at say 1.2 kHz, and see how long it lasts if you can stand the nails-on-chalkboard sound that long).
So far my setup was with them, 7l closed enclosure and peavey 22a with 3"x15" horn/flare (came with the driver). Cutoff i think was somewhere 4-5k Hz, played around with some passive filters that i had laying around. Lower end had x over 100hz through ecler x over.
I simply thought, that i could get some more oompha out of midbasses, if id use them some more effice t enclosure.
