Hey all,
not sure if this is also known but I'll say it again anyway 😀
Just visited http://www.hommie.net/ and one Brian Greaves has found small lcds with res of over 800x600 at http://www.crlopto.com/products/index.php# . And then sell single units too!
The credit goes to Marklar for posting it on his website and Brian. Good job.
Can someone tell me what would be needed in conjunction with these lcds tho? Don't know much about the lcds like this. Only the projection panels.

Umm did anyone happen to notice the colors on those panels?? The ones larger then like .88 are all monochrome lcds. And I'm sure the .88 will be very expensive considering the color and the res.
The monochrome panels would be good for a x3 setup no?
And actualy, the 1280x1024 reflective disps would be for a different project altogether (high rez near-eye application)

I've been speaking with Ryan West (worker of CRL Optic, the small lcd place in this thread) and he said that the reflective ones would work. Here is a part of the latest email i recieved:
"The light source in a slide projector is fine as long as you can collect and
focus as much of this light as possible down onto the Microdisplay. The
Microdisplay has a 0.88" Active area that needs to be illuminated, I presume a
slide projector leaks a lot of light and the aperture size is 35mm(?). Spot
size is the size of the spot the light beam from your illumnator (Slide
Projector Lamp) makes when impinging on a surface. So in the case of an
unmodified slide projector I assume it is large i.e. 35mm diameter.
Now when using our microdisplay the spot size of the illumination beam that
illuminates the Microdisplay through the colour wheel must be smaller than 35mm
diameter.
So in order to achieve that explained in previous emails, this spot size should
be as small as possible, ideally <4mm diameter."

No Way!
Woah, no way! I live there! That place is about 3 minutes away from my house. Maybe I'll check it out some time

It’s just a small TV, but not a special panel. You’ll need to repair some parts, and it’s better to get the real projection panel.
And still. Is anybody check up the list on http://www.hommie.net/parts.htm (LCD’s)?

Hi Guys,
It was already disscused before, but I think still relevant today:
www.i-glasses.com/Store/SVGA.php3
The prices seems reasonable compared with Crlopto, plus you get 1 extra LCD panel for spare!
I'm sure this is not the only one of this kind.

mono panel?
Why everybody looking 4 a color panels!? That kind of a panel is rather expensive! I don’t mean crlopto prices(but it’s …!).
So, I think, that mono panel (from 640x480) is enough for the start.
If somebody knows where to find that panel?
