SMALL High Resolution LCDs

I am looking for a SMALL (sub - 2 or 3") LCD with the highest resolution possible (800 X 600 at least). Does anyone know where I can find one for a reasonable amount of money? Has anyone seen these in their many travels?

My plan is to buy an old metal case, glass optics slide projector, and cannibalize it. I would probably try retrofitting a VERY quiet fan into it and obviously using the LCD instead of the slide.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jason

read my thread "my projecter suck part II..." for my slide projecter project. here are some observations...

1. an ideal size is 1.8 inchs, it fits perfectly in mine.

2. Consiter bulb life/cost as an issue.

3. the best rez I have seen so far is 528H x 220V and costs $160 at B&H photo/video.

What you're looking for doesn't exist, there is no such thing as a cheap 2" SVGA or greater LCD - If there were, commercial LCD projectors wouldn't be so expensive. 🙂 I know someone in here came across a 2" XGA or WXGA LCD, but it cost well over a thousand dollars.

If you mainly want small - There are some NTSC compatible Sony 2" LCDs on ebay for pretty cheap, although I don't know if anyone here has used them successfully (i.e., gotten the backlight/boards off.)

If you mainly want hi-res, just go with a dismantled PC display or a used OHP LCD panel off ebay.

That place was www.crlopto.com and they live about 3 minutes from me. They ARE really expensive. I don't know maybe i could talk to 'em and make a deal... like intern for 'em for a couple months for an LCD.. hehe, or not
