Small Coax Speaker

@mayrhubw - your comment sent me looking for this article, which seems to verify there's more bass to be exploited from this driver, thanks!

I'm going to let them break in and take measurements but I think @Turbowatch2 might have been on the money with the very first response in this thread. Comparing the measurements in the article (fig 3) and mine the Q of my port looks low... lossy?

Thinking wider and rounder ports will be the next step.

Break in May take 100 hours but well worth the wait. I’m not building any more but when I did I would put the Two speakers face to face and reverse the wires on one of the and turn on the radio and leave them play for the weekend. Bass was always deeper by the end of the weekend.

Here's the impedance plot, the port tuning matches the design of approx 63Hz. The sub 100Hz peaks are around 5Ω down in comparison with the application note. I think I'm going to build another set with wider ports to see if that makes a difference although I should probably do another test with the baffle glued on before I go down that road.

Any other ideas?

Took a while but I finally got around to making a version 2. I think the room is adding bass at 35-50Hz along with the peakiness up to 115Hz but it's sounding a lot better and the port is definitely working as designed now.

Just need to make another one and give them a good listen... and finish sanding the boxes, but that's my least favourite job.
