Small bass Horn?

I was wanting to build a small, low power (50-100 watt) bass horn using an 6 1/2, 8, or 10 inch sub. This will be used for my computer sub, and as an experiment in horn loading drivers. Any help would be nice, Driver recommendations, documented projects, anything. Thanks.

Bass horn

I'm with Till. The driver may be small, but the size of the horn is still determined by the wavelength of frequency at cut off.

That is to say, a 40 Hz wavelength is about 28 ft. If you figure 1/4 wavelength for the horn with corner loading, you still end up with 7 ft of ever-expanding length wrapped up (folded) into a box which must have a mouth circumference to fit the same frequency/wavelength (some fudging here). So, while the driver may be small, the box is not.

Might do a search on the recent thread here about the "Bose Cannon". Similar 1/4 wavelength concept again without the horn expansion. Or use a transmission line and add power.

Hi bhg,

Here is my contribution, I hope this can help.

I recently went to Japan and happened to snap a picture of some interesting Small FR horns. If you look close at the flyer behind the speakers, you'll see they come much smaller (I'm sure with proportionally higher cut-off).
