SM57/58 Impedance Internal TX's - why not CT?

I have a transformerless 57 clone, it sounds OK but it is missing the shure design's 1:3 impedance TX . Research shows people are scrapping these anyway as a mod, and I'm not dumb enough to release the phantom smoke (hopefully) BUT I have some theoretical questions regarding balancing.

1. Is there a reason (other than cost or simplicity) why the OEM design doesn't use a CT on the TX secondary wired to pin 1 (shield) (and ideally only at one, consistent end of the cable, or is that why, for that variable?)

2. In the case of any 600ohm dynamic capsule source, why not use an isolating 1:1 600:600CT audio TX to balance the capsule output without the impedence change? Being modern equipment probably doesn't need the V step up, right?

IE
PRI Capsule +/-
SEC XLR cable +/Shield/- or Shield Pin 1 on the xlr (bridged to connector ground on only male ends)

Rather than the OEM of signal to 2/3 and 1 shield and conector bridged only.

Thoughts appreciated,
