I purchased an SM Pro Audio V-Machine standalone VST player for home use. It has its limitations, but for me the biggest issue is the fan noise. It is quite annoying especially in the evening (I use it with headphones, so that my playing does not disturb my family, but the fan does). There is a tiny 5V fan cooling the CPU, mounted on top of the aluminium heatsink. It is marked Arkua Everflow 5V/0.13A. The motor diameter is 21 mm, the outer diameter is 36 mm. I guess this is kind of a laptop fan. Anybody has an idea, what could I replace it with, so that I can reduce the noise?
how about noise cancellation headphones?
Or a water cooling system, just add an aluminum block attached to the heat sink (use thermal paste), drill a hoke straight thru (or for extreme cooling that i dont think uou need solder to top of the block some copper tubing wagging back n forth) with a 1/4-1/2" hole drilled thru it, tap the holes, add brass nipples, attach hose to both ends, run a small submersible pump(like a desktop fountain pump) into a bucket of water. Water cooling scares me.

Oh nevermind the headphones, it disturbs your family.
There is a noise cancellation device that works via phase cancellation used in offices, not sure what they are called, would be a cool project tho.
how about attaching a computer temp kill switch with thermocouple? Or add a switch and just the thermocouple, then can watch the temp, and manually turn fan on n off with switch.
Or rob the fan from a pc power supply or something.

It's a late reply, but just now had I time and motivation to fix the fan noise issue. The solution is mounting two 30x30mm fans on both side, as seen on the attached pictures. It is not absolutely silent, but much less disturbing.Hi, Can you solve a problem with your fan ? My v-machine fan is loud, too. It's not fun 🙁![]()

Thanks for the hint. Unfortunately, I gave up a long time ago and sold my V-machine.
