Im planning out my next box. just want opinions. I need ~25 square inch port. would it sound any different doin a 5*5, or a 4*6 or a 3*8 inch port?
Not that I know of, but if you are going with a high excursion sub bigger seems to work better. Well if you beat on it that is.
one other thing do you count the thickness of the face of the box in overall lenth? i will be posting my box design soon.
Internal airspace should be only inside the box measure, actually minus the space the rear of sub and port takes up as well. Unless it is a pre-designed box with part size listed.
That was box area I must have misread. Port length is the total inside length of port from open space inside to open space outside. If you taper the ends you only count part of the taper, IIRC less than half. There are a pile of box building sites that can figure it for you, or I just use winISD.
