Could a thread be started for the semisouth sjep120r100a which is now available at Newark. Can this power jfet be implemented in Mr. Rothacher latest design as a direct subsitute?
I dont think it really warrants another thread, yes it can be swapped in; they are practically identical
E means enhanced
you need SJDP for direct implementation in MR's schm
but , E is doable easy , too - just look at Papa's Arch Nemesis article ........ or maybe is biasing of it already covered in MR's thread

doh, sorry I completely missed the E as I hadnt seen this (new?) part. i just read as the A in R100A being the heart of the question
thanks for the catch ZM

The SIT 2SK82 from acronman Singapore and the SS depletion have a similar price....
Why not take the SIT......and get triode characteristic!
🙂
SIT
I thought the SS sjep120r100a was the j fet that provides triode characteristics? Could you please eleborate on this subject. Yero

When you want to take Semisouth you must look what Zen Mod wrote
....
You must take the depletion mode type R85 (?)?...😀 instead of original SIT 2SK82.
As far as I understand the SJDPR85 is at lower currents triodish and the 2SK82 really behaves like triode.
Only disadvantage less power handling and TO-3 case, means a bit difficult for our flat big heatsinks we are used to....
🙂

ahh its huge!! its covering the edit button too so I can delete and resize. I just linked directly to his DIYA blog
now it behaves, after i've reported my own post. oh well its still not really suitable. sorry guys when I came back I could see the edit button again

SJDP120R085 = Depletion
SJEP120R100 = Enhancement
Both are SIC JEFTs, but not SITs
The only SIC SITs suitable for audio are in Mordor.
The 2SK82 is a SIT (or VFET) but not SIC

confusion again
there are SJEP and SJDP
only that is showing are they enhanced or depletion mode
last group in name Rxxx is for full throttle die resistance , shown in millioms
and - where you have A on end , that's for Audiophool Jfet , meaning selected-not good for power product but good enough for wakoos from Papaland

edit - almost forgot picture

No worries, I made it to an attachment.

The power Jfet a technological revelation but!
Hi Salsa and Qusp: Your responces to my original thread seemed to have nothing to do with this topic. what did "edit button so I can resize" and "no worries, I made it to an attachement" have to do with this ground breaking subject. Zen Mod, your comment regarding when you have an A on the end thats for audiophool seems to counter what semisouth states on there website regarding the sjep120r100a which says is used for audio applications. I believe the power Jfet is a revalation to the audio world but so little information is available regarding circuit designs for these semiconductors. WHY? Do we have to wait for Pappa lead! I do not have the expertise to design circuits. I am certain many of you DIY.COM members do know how to design circuits using these semiconductors. How about an Opamp driving these semiconductors in a push pull configuration? With all do respect, something amiss! Yero😉

An opamp driving triodish semiconductors? Yikes!
There are plenty of circuits here as well as in audio mags that use these devices where they work best. You need to do some googling and reading.
Ok, here's some leads:
Circlotron by Mike Rothacher uses these.
Check member Teabag's blog.
Check Arch Nemesis on passdiy.

I suspect you are reading your forum update in email rather than the actual thread yes? not the best method even if you read the whole posts, which it appears you didnt. I suggest reading the thread including pictures, its only 2 pages afterall.
Zen mod has english as a second language as well, but it appears his english humor has passed you by. ZM has done more with power jfets than most on the forum and although he may present himself as a joker, he is anything but the fool

Yero,
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I just want to point out that the title of the thread is SIT Power JFETs, and the devices sold by SemiSouth are not SITs, not triode-like, and in fact, are much like low-distortion MOSFETs which can be plugged in to many of the usual MOSFET circuits after accounting for their different GS voltage requirements.
They do not sell the SIT commissioned by Pass.
I hope that's helpful,
Mike

Thank you all! I so much want to build an amplifer. I have built a tube preamp 12ax7 and a IC headphone amp using an OPA2134 and BUF604 successfully and it felt great. Based on Mr. Pass first watt "whats new" section, gives me the impresion that single ended triode is what he is tryind to accomplish with his triode like seniconductors. I have lots of tubes NOS but no Power triodes. I wanted to build the JLH or death of Zen or should I go with A 6bq5/ 6v6 single ended. any or all suggestions would be appreciated Many thanks Yero.
