Does the SIT 3 use a common ground for both channels? I'd like to hook up a REL sub to the speaker outs but I sure don't want to smoke the amp
Yes, it does.
Also, I am not aware of anything short of a lightning strike that will smoke it....

Here's a short SIT 3 demo since there aren't many online. It's the best sounding SIT 3 demo on Youtube. Speakers are 4 ohm Denso 4x6" in custom OB's. The Denso 6x9"s weren't as revealing. The 4x6"s play better with the SIT than the Buchardts or Infinitys maybe because of complex crossovers? All the junk everywhere is for acoustic treatment.

I'm a fan. I have limited experience though. My other DAC is a Topping dx7s which uses ESS ES9038 chips. Adcom sounds more liquid and no less revealing.
I'm biased by the fact the ADCOM is made in the US and the relay makes a satisfying clink when the signal locks. If you've ever shut the door of an old BMW you can hear the quality. I can hear the quality of the ADCOM
