I for one like your time waster project. I got on a kick a few years back playing with series string filament amps and some 6AQ5 SET amps. Some I modified, some I simply built from scratch. There are some pictures on my hombuilt hifi page at www.couger.com/mike sorry, the page really does need updating, just need to make time to take some pictures. I came into a large pile of 150 volt secondary transformers with a pretty fair current, so I made all of mine transformer isolated. Most make very nice sounding headphone amps, a couple of them I have used to drive a pair of Electrovoice SP-12s and they sound good. There is enough clean volume to drive me out of the room.

These little amps are fun to play with, it lets me feel like ole Madman Muntz, building an amp with minimal compunents and still having it sound good.
