Hi Salas,
for my Tube-I-zator i have two possibilities to config my psu:
Witch of the two would you prefer? 🙄

Hello all.
I wish try the SSHV in a SE power amp.
The +B is 330V at 86ma
You could suggest me the inicial value for R1 for (86mA+25mA) 111mA? Some other advice?
Thank you in advance,

SE power amp may upset this regulator because of the output transformer's strong inductive load. It has been tried on smaller headphones amplifiers, can't say for this, its your test. 3 Leds of 1.9V drop each, R1=18R 2W, R3=67K 5W. 350VDC input. R4 120K make from 240K//240K 2W each. MJE350 may hold at 330V out, test stronger Vmax PNP if not.
I will try
Thank you for reply Salas.
I will try...
Is better if use one reg for de output stage? is a 65mA load...
Alberto.

The input stage will benefit the most from a regulator. If it can not cooperate for the amp as a whole, run it lower current and use it for the input stage only. So it will not be left without a task if it can't serve for the power stage stably.
150v for 26
Hi Salas,
I'm planing a new 26 pre amp and would love to add 2 shunt regs for separated channels before the OPT. Please take a look at the attached and do advise if there is anything I have to pay more attention on.
Thanks
Albert

Sorry, the attachment didn't go with it.
Basically I follow the new version with some changes. R1-56R, R3/56K and R5-100k. I go with CLC and split into 2 RC 180v to the regs. I'm aiming at 150v 9 mA.

They have used it before on #26 in its thread with good feedback commentary. Make R3 33K 5W for 180V input. Measure 3x1.9Vf Leds @ 5mA so the 56R will give around 40mA for average Vgs. At this input voltage skip the big protection Zener, use only the small ones at the gates if any. Good luck and let us know.

Salas,
Thanks for your response.
What if I use a isolation transformer then I might have 170v input, the R3 33K stays the same? Use small zeners at the gates, I thought you suggest the D1 1n5383B can be smaller and the D5,6,7and 8 remain the same 1n4742a. Can I use same 90v for D1 or ??
Albert
33K stays the same with 170V DCin. Small 0.5W 10V-12V types Zeners will all do for gates protection. IRF9610 is a 200V part so you can be secure without D1 even with your voltages.

Salas,
Thanks.
So I only need 4 12v for the purpose.
Will let you know but might take a while, for I just start ordering parts.

Hi Salas,
could you short explain what´s the benefit of the lower R3 value?
bump
That value gets to be adjusted for feeding the Leds healthier like in average 200-300V SSHV if some builds are lower or higher DCin.
Hi,
I 'm getting ready to move to simpler simplistic version of Salas HV shunt.
300Vin, 260Vout. If i want to aim for 60mA, is there any other change except lowering R1?
R1 =33R, you can get 60ma!
