Hi i have an queastion. It is posible to run salas hv 2 on 420-430v dc raw and 400vdc out on 20mA (+ 20mA self consumption). like we see firs caoacitor is on 630v , and it is before irf840 where we have fullraw dc, secondcap(10uf) is behind irf where we have adjusted out dc.These cap is on 400vdc. Please help .
I have just compared two shunt regulators from K and K Audio (based on the SSHV1 if I understand it correctly) and two SSHV2's in my 1541A DAC where it supplies B+ to plate chokes in a D3a tube based output stage. The difference was staggering. With the SSHV2's in place the sound gained openness, dimentionality, presence and overall fidelity. In fact everything was better - much better.
Thank you Salas (and Tea-bag)!

Hi I have run 2 salasys, raw dc 416v. Adjusted on 400mV, on out i have max 305v dc. Dummy load is 20k. What to do? I need 400v out.
Have you adjusted your CCS?
With 20k 400v your CCS is only 20mA, this value is the self SSHV2 consumption, you must add your real load consumption.

Yes, on TP i have 400mV like i need. I have try 500mV but with still 305v dc on out. me real consuption is 17mA.

You are welcome

I don't know how that reg is modded or executed, I had not consulted it, and I had never seen it in the flesh. Says "The shunt regulator circuit is similar to that originally developed by Salas". From what other I read in their website it combines a cascoded current source, that's topologically similar to SSHV2, and a parallel topology that looks similar to SSHV1 from eyeballing its photo.

Use an appropriate dummy load.
Use an appropriate dummy load.
And that also, always. 20K simulates 20mA consumption at 400V output. A 15W part should hold 8W well enough.
I have change 68k resistor on 90k resistors. For now i have 400v out like i need🙂 Thank you!!

With 90K resistor and 400V the current draw is 4.44mA. With your real consumption of 17mA you may not get 400V. Check it out.

I guess are speaking of R9-10.
Hi All
What is the size of the SSHV2 board please?
Thanks
Found it.
