Ok... I know this was a recent thread...
I want to continue it.

I am looking to build a Class A, simple amp with max 3 transistors or MOSFETS.

Running from battery supply.

Power output > 1W.

ideas?

What about something Zen-like but the CCS replaced by a choke?
One mosfet per channel.

As Fuling says, using a choke instead of a CCS is good. It means the wattage drain from the limited battery supply is halved. Same current but only half the voltage needed. Efficiency is max 50% instead of max 25%.
