I'm planning a new sub for my HT and I just want to get some input on it before I start construction. Here are the details:
Adire Audio DPL12 12" Driver
2.5 ft^3 Sealed Enclosure
Parts Express 250W@4ohm Amp
It'll be used for both two channel music and 5.1 movies. WinISD is showing me an F3 = 30Hz, F6 = 22.5Hz, and an F10 = 17.25Hz. Will this give respectable response at sub 30Hz frequencies? Is this simulation pretty accurate? If so it sounds great and I think I have a winner.

I really like this one using a 15" PR

If you can afford it of course...

Well with room gain you'll probably be happy with the sub30 response... but if not there's always the option of a linkwitz transform circuit 🙂
Consider a ported alignment, extra LF extension.
I dont think a sizable 20hz port would fit on 2.5cubes,perhaps more like 3.5cubes easily-you dont want 100cm long ports doing a 90hz "Dong" resonator sound!

anyway - try to get lowest freq response. you'll not sorry.

Personally, the dpl12 is ofcourse designed for ultra low frequencies.why not take full advantage of this by tuning to 16hz on 100-135litres.
EQ is always needed to try and fix in room response however..
it can handle 200watts with this tuning and no eq.
(id need 2 or 4 of these to get the output at a linear enough level)
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
edit: PR required for low tunings,as airspeed is too high on acceptable sized ports
