now I have build my 1st DIY speaker, I am interested in protecting the speaker.
Don't want to put on regular cloth grill. Anyone have any idea of simple, minimalistic, stylish "protection"? guess some auto speakers have it, but usually have manufactural logo.

Those are great. They don't have the "passive filter" effect on the upper mids and highs.

wow!, u got a sharp eye, they sound great IMO. Now I am on a second DIY speaker BIB form factor. They sound so good, I want to protect them from wandering hands...

Jim Griffin has a reprise of a thread that went around a
year or so ago about the stuff you can get for making
screens. His response is about 3-4 down.
This system seems to solve all the problems of size and
shape (so long as it's rectangular.) Plus the Pet Screen
protects the speaks from everything.

I wonder how this stuff would perform? Aluminum would be easy enough to fabricated and probably cheap enough to just replace when/if it got damaged. A flat black finish would would probably look quite nice. It's available in other metal types as well. SS, brass, galvanized, etc. Maybe McMaster Carr?

If you're just protecting from accidental contact, you could use simple bent rod style drawer pulls (from Home Depot for example).
Keeping out prying small fingers is a whole different matter.

(It's just about everything-proof, and aside from oxidation, won't wear much over time.)
