I found this simplified schematic in my files and believe it was a little teaser from Nelson. Has anything else ben done with this circuite? I know it would need a ccs and some bias network but would a Edcor 600:15k be ok for the transformer and what value cap would I need with it?

Just because he loves it so much, the Edcor 600:15K is the
voltage gain stage for very-soon-to-be-released DIY Sony VFET
amplifier.
Listening done, Curves run, part list printed out.
Machinists are carving heat sink metal as we sit here, and final artwork
is ready to go out the door for quick turn-around.
I tried to make it more complicated and obscure, but it's just not in me.
The first offering will be 200 channels using P chan VFET and then 200
of N channel.
Those out there with VFETs already will be able to get kits without that
part.

Choose your own adventure - nice! Or an interesting mono-block arrangement... 😀

Time to abandon all that silly KISS philosophy. Ten different feedback circuits with backups minimum should do the trick. Full Japanese retro circuits with as many transistors into stuffed boards as possible, with some dangerous, toxic and inaccessible deep in the chassis but essential to performance.
Why the same M2 amp Edcor 600:15K autoformer connection gain stage for triodes 2SJ28 or 2SK82 ?
Cinemags hi nickel version are too great ?

Good news indeed. Looking forward to the journey.

Papa is much more laughing when using cheapest possible part , with great result
just imagine his green, placing 10uF Silmic elco in signal path, and thinking how much ppl are paying for, say, Duelund cap, just to put it in mediocre circuit (in most cases)

papa knows greedy boyz are real cheapskate

btw, just checked the 6 dollar is now 11 per piece.
... might have heard the news already?

For some reason numerous discerning audiophiles like the Edcor in spite of
the lesser objective performance, and I don't think it has anything to do with
price.
Anyway, looks like you will have some options. Mark Johnson has agreed to work
on some different front ends that will mount on the sink in addition to the Edcor
circuit.

accuse me of erring on monothonic side, but I'm finding nothing wrong with decent Iron, decently implemented in strategic place(s)
not taking in account need to make something different ..... be it from commercial or purely intellectual reasons

fact is - whenever I'm dealing with Iron, I'm careful with overal parts count ...... toss the Iron out, I'm automatically tossing handfuls of small critters in, even if still just few of them are dealing with signal

Great news & thank you!! 🙂
The front end board might be neat to allow different taps off the autoformer to lower the gain for tweeter amp usage, or hungry headphones. Maybe that's best accomplished with different transformer daughterboard wiring, considering the price of switches & etc might quickly be more than $11

Thought about it some more, I think my version's complication to this will be to use the NuTube kit in front, but bypass it's output buffer with a little cap to the input buffer of this amp. It's sort of like NuTube's version of "will it drive F4", except it's an even cooler follower now.
Is this front end with Edcor on the main amplifier pcb or separate module?
Separate. Mounts on the holes at the rear end of the store heat sinks.
Usable with other follower output stages.
