Simple Parallel / Series Question

I have a pair of weird JVC surround speakers, specific to a bespoke system. They've mounted the drivers for front and rear in the same case. The cabinets seem to be impregnable.

I have no use for these speakers but don't want to throw them away. Am I correct in assuming I can twist the (+) of one driver's input cable together with the (-) cable of the other and the drivers will be wired in series?

Yes, electrically, and the markings of the far-end terminals would then give you the polarity of the resulting combination. However, if their cones are facing each other (which is what I assume from the front/rear description) then there could be some acoustic cancellation resulting from the physical placement.

I don't think it's that complicated. Top driver receives front channel signal, bottom driver processes rear.

Well, then there's no problem, they're electrically in series. However, there would still be a null due to the centre to centre distance between the drivers, but I guess you already knew that before deciding in favour of the series connection.
