Simple High Voltage Regulator

I had to wait few months for DN2540 to arrive and today finished to test this regulator. Is rock stable and ultra low noise. More measurements will come, but is very promising.

Tibi

Test setup:
- input 240Vac
- output 170Vdc
- output load 5 x 560ohm = 2k8
- current limited at 60mA trough R7 = 10ohm

Results:
- under full load output dropped to 168,8Vdc
- noise 272uVpp
- mosfet reached 75C with a very small heatsink
- load reached over 98C

Tibi

@tvicol,
Hi, thank you for your SHVR. Minimal size and parts number and very usefull. I like a lot also the picture on the transparent plastic bag...sorta of made it quiet a la Dexter :)
I have please some question as a noob. What is please the trimpot model and value you used ? I would like to drop 10V from 300 V input after rectification.
220k was elevated with the wire for cooling purpose ?

I still have one partly assembled boards if you want to have the honours.

Sim was very good, but my licence for multisim has expired.

Attached Gerbers and Schematic

Thank you !

For test I have used a potentiometer available in my lab.
220K resistors are elevated because I was playing with different values.

I have redesigned the boards to include a discrete e-choke.
And for this project, I have a newly designed Saligny HVHF MKIII made on a 4 layer pcb.
New SHVR boards arrived and this regulator will be added to His masters noise phono.
I'll add more pictures and source/gerber files in the next days.

Regards,
Tibi
