Simple Guitar Amp

Hello,

I am a high school physics student. For a physics project my partner and I decided to build a basic guitar amplifier. We are looking for something relatively cheap. We have a collection of old used speakers and would probably use one of them for this project. If any of you know of a schematic or have a schematic that would help us it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
Ben

bshover,

What part of Indiana are you from? I did a similar thing when I was in high school physics in Indiana.

For a simple guitar amp, I would suggest using something like a power op amp (LM1875) for the output stage and find a simple preamp circuit (recommend the JFET mu amp for tube like sound and simplicity of construction) such as the Booster 2.5 located here: http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/index2.html )

These are fairly easy circuits. If you need any further help just let me know.

And at this link the amp circuit you'll get has very simple and common components like lm386 you can build it very easily. This amp doesn't need any pre-amp for amplifying the guitar what ever is your guitar pickup

Well i have tried it with piezo-pickup of semi-acoustic guitar and also i have used it with electric guitars both worked well. But i wasn't having a good box like them. I used a plastic box...lol
