I've just started playing with SIMetrix/SIMPLIS and have a couple of questions. The good news is I've already figured out how to put together a circuit and get all the outputs I want - DC, transient and Fourier analyses, Bode plots etc, however...
Firstly, I can't find any LEDs in the model libraries. Normal diodes like 1N4148 and 1N4007 are there as well as zeners, but no LEDs. Are they just hiding or are there really none? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a regular red LED to use for voltage reference and biasing duties.
Another thing - The accuracy of Spice models for semiconductors can be a bit dodgy at the best of times. Does anybody have an idea how good SIMetrix's built-in ones are, especially for BJTs? IOW, when modeling an amp, are predictions for distortion, stability etc reasonably accurate?
All of which leads to the question of installing new model libraries. I see there is a way to do that, which I haven't looked at yet, but my question is about the actual Spice models. I have a suspicion that there are different types of model, and that some software is only compatible with certain types of model. Is this correct, and if so what do I need to look out for?

Sounds like we are about the same place.
LED's are under Diode, they are "red" or "green" You would need to make new models for the hundreds of non standard values. WIKI LED colors and get a list.
I got a hint on the models with the help of Bob Cordell and the libraries for EXICON MOSFETS. Between them, I pretty much figure's out the syntax to make your own libs. It may be in the reference, but I have not even made it through the 400 pages of the users guide.
