Hey Gents, looking at a SimAudio amp, I noticed a few things - 1, what I gather are two load reisitors between the binding posts - are there any benefits to getting rid of those or is it best to leave them, maintain impedence? I heard of instances where removing these open up the sound considerably.
Also, on the amp boards there are 100nF caps across the terminals on the underside of the board on 2 of the larger 1200uF caps - what exactly are the purpose of these, filter? If I remove them while replacing the aged caps would I gain any change in tone?

Can you tell the value of the load resistors? They only look small, maybe 1/4 watt , so going to be much higher resistance than the speakers. Removing them wouldn’t make any difference and could cause problems - they won’t have fitted them for no reason
The 100nF capacitors are to bypass the electrolytics as they are better at higher frequencies, so yes will improve immunity to noise

Hey Brian, good point and thanks. They did put them there for a reason, I'm just trying to ascertain if there might be any improvement by removing them. I recall reading a post elsewhere, where another individual removed a similar thing and noted a slight improvement. I did the same recently with a resistor across tweeters in a set of speakers - Remove the resisitor, gain better highs.. Thinking along similar lines with this amp..
What value are the resistors?
