SilentSwitcher - mains-free +/-15V and 6.5/5/3.3V power
Well, I did it! My SilentSwitcher is now live at Kickstarter!
Looking forward to getting this on the road!

I have plenty 15V power supplies, but nothing just like this!
I'm wondering if this is a sign of the future for power supplies in line level stages and reserved myself some for testing 🙂

Well I spoke with Joachim Gerhard this weekend at an audio show, he had a phono preamp powered by a prototype SilentSwitcher, he was very enthusiastic!
No hum, no noise, great sound, and very important: no need to design & build 'hi-end' mains power supplies, which may even need a separate box for best performance! Think of the hassle and cost saved.
So in that sense I (obviously ;-) think it is a great new way to power small signal stuff.
Edit: important for small manufacturers: no mains inside the equipment means no certification cost. Another significant savings.

I really love this product. It speeds up my builds tremendoes without loss of performance.
I am critical because for my phono stages i need clean power.
This is miles away from older designs that had trouble.
I had never thought that i use a switcher one day but now it has happened.

I also just saw it on the AudioXpress newsletter. I signed up for a pair. I will try them on a phono stage and Bruno Putsey Balanced Preamp.
Jan, when will the kickstarter boards be shipping or otherwise available
The project ends in 25 days and then I'll place the order, will take a few weeks, my target is to ship all 2nd half Nov.
I am now talking to the contractor about the functional test under load of each board.

May I draw +/-220 mA if nothing is taken from the low voltage outlets and feeding 5V?
//
You can but you need to input more than the 5V of a USB charger. If you use say a 9V wallwart or a battery you can probably go up to 300mA.

I posted an update on the Kickstarter project and on my website.
I have some pictures from the mech mockup I did for the autoranger and I wanted to share those - showing how it will look if you decide to use the USB B power input for a truly wireless and compact power supply.
Note that the USB B will be on the back side of the PCB; the parts and the +/-15V and 6/5/3.3V headers and the On/Off switch header are on the side facing inward.

It's awful, no sound comes out of it at all. Completely silent in fact.
