Just curious if the Sigma 8" drivers are really that much better. I was considering my first BVR system and need to know if the Sigma's are better than Planet10's modified versions of the standard 8" drivers. If not, Dave is there an upgrade path for the Sigma that is worth the efforts and expenses?
Scott will any of the current crop of Spawn cabinets work with the 208 Sigma?

The 208 won't be ideal in any of the short path cabinets without some Eq, although they're happy enough in Sachiko.
Thank you Scott and Dave!
Happy enough? Does that mean that they are at least the equal of the 207 in the Sachiko? I am hoping that the Sigma is a clear improvement over the standard drivers, or why spend the cash 🙂
I sincerely appreciate what you and Dave are doing and have done for the little guys. It is truly a labor of love and I am in awe of your selfless contributions.

206 in Sachiko -207 isn't ideal for that cab. 😉
Well, I think the 208 is a substantial improvement over the 206 in the LF & midrange, but remember that it's deliberately BW limited, so it requires a tweeter over ~10KHz.

What tweeters would match efficiency of the Sigma that could be flush mounted in the cabinet? This may be the difficult part of trying to use the Sigma 208 I would imagine.
Michael,
I recently built a pair the Sachiko cabinets here in the UK for a mate in Scotland with the 208Sigma and Fostex T90A flush mounted into the cabs. The owner is very happy indeed with this combination.
You can follow the progress of the build here: http://www.audio-talk.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1455
We had to add some polyester fibre stuffing in the throat post build to tame some lower mid getting through the ports so you may want to consider this during your build.
Good luck these are a huge build and weigh a ton!

Quite, the damping necessary depends on the amp, room, & personal preference. Beyond the initial starting point of lining the back-chamber, this is something left to the builder to suit themselves, for obvious reasons. They do work very well though, if I say so myself. 🙂
Thank you Toppsy!
You have given me the desire to proceed with this large system. I have always wanted a large single driver speaker so that I could utilize a SET amp. I am more excited than ever to get started!

Michael,
I've not even seen an FE208eS so can't really comment on how it compares to my FE206eN. The one person who has had an opportunity to compare FE206eN vrs FE206eSR puts the eN driver ahead by a good margin.
