side firing sub

i plan to build a 3-way with a side firing sub(powered).wher should the sub be crossed.i'm thinking 80-100hz.at what point does base become 2 directional to be used on the side

100Hz crossover is OK with 2nd-order filter or better. It's a subjective thing really, I wouldn't cross it above 150Hz.

I've done side firing subs and have crossed over at 80Hz. Depends on the mid woofer, but you can always play with that but go no higher than 100Hz.
