Stick to boron IMHO. Safer bet. Jewelled cantilevers sound cold sometimes.
I understand that you heard the V15 type3 when it arrived and probably with an E stylus which was the most common, the others had to be bought. V15 type3 just like the others have a laminated core and that is what separates them from others with a whole core. I can understand that it can sound like the others, I went from an M75 with a HE stylus and had to work a bit before my type3 excelled, nowadays there are many MC followers who are deceived because it is on a different level now, I have a type V but dare not change the deed may not be better than type3.I remember the V15-III. To me it was just an M-91ED. OK but nothing special. I went to the V15-IV
and it was the first time it was an actual improvement. The V15-V was an even bigger improvement
from the type 4. The only problem with the type 5 is it's no longer made - and NOS (new old stock)
is worthless because the rubber parts harden up ruining the stylus. Then again there was a reason I
abandoned LPs back in '83 and that hasn't changed.

I got a SAS from a friend as a thank you for a job but I prefer HE as it swings more SAS is more detailed and smoother in playback very much like a good MC, if it's worth the money is up to you.I'm not only looking for definition, I own Denon DL-103 & Linn Arkiv, by far I like a lot of more the tone of Shure V15 TYPE III with original HE stylus.
Do you remember what cantiliver material was the Jico SAS you listened?
Jico says SAS have better contact than Shibata.

Agreed, I like my V15Vmr with the SAS (boron) for classical music. Very detailed and refined. My M97x is fitted with an LP Gear Vivid Line (a HE) and has better "PRAT", just the thing for jazz!

Most DIY but phono is TNT indescreet turntable TD 150 with new plinth unsprung tonearm Stax UA9 N cartridge type 3 has a shell of blackwood not plastic. Everything has since been built endlessly with small tuneups. What was the tonearm, turntable & phono preamp?
If TT TD 150 have plinth unsprung isn't the same like my Linn plinth suspended.....
Also IRC TNT Indiscreto is SS mine is tube....
I can't know what's the effective massof your tonearm Stax UA 9, do you know or measured?

V15Vmr Jico SAS is running on a SME V arm mounted to a Immedia RPM 1 table, straight into the phono section of my Quicksilver Full Function preamplifier. The M97x LP Gear VL is on a SME 3009 S2 Imp. fixed headshell (light effective mass) mounted on a resto-modded Pioneer PL12 table running into a Darlington Labs MP-7 phono stage, then into the Quicksilver.Same questions: tonearm, turntable & phono preamp?

Thanks Dan,
IIRC I media RPM 1 doesn't have the plint suspended as Linn LP12.
Quicksilver is tube right?
SME V tonearm is medium mass like mine Linn Ekos right?

Guys your information it's very important to made me an idea how will sound the Jico SAS Boro with my setup.
Correct, the Immedia is a solid plinth and the Quicksilver is a full tube preamplifier. SME V tonearm is considered medium effective mass. Thanks Dan,

Sorry, I had a "brain fart" on the resto-modded Pioneer. It is a PL-30.
I run a Funk Firm Achromat on this table, a substantial improvement.

I tried several mats for my Linn LP12 and always come back to the original felt mat.
Someone experience with different belts?

When I bought my TD 150 the chassis was already broken there was mold and rust which made me build a new plinth. the plinth is divided into three layers with rubber rings that dampen vibrations. If TT TD 150 have plinth unsprung isn't the same like my Linn plinth suspended.....

The Stax tonearm can be adjusted almost to infinity, everything from highly compliant MM to MC, I've tried a few MC with good results, the tonearm is medium but has extra weight that you put on so you get a light one.
