Why The Different Bottle Shapes

Hi Kids,

In my continuing quest to ask every basic question possible 😉, Can anyone tell me the functional implications of the two bottle shapes?

The only thing I can think of is that the indented shape supports the structure at the top. But I think I see braces at the top of the round tubes that would do the same thing? 😕

Or is just a question of aesthetics? 😎

Technically speaking it doesn't make any sense_to me at least_at all yet every time I hear one I notice it sounds much better than its regular brother.

Can anyone tell me the functional implications of the two bottle shapes?

Easier to mount and center, more rigid, less fragile structure hence less prone to breakage....Hidden publicity for Coca Cola [kidding]....Less air to pump away??

Is it possible that there are clips to secure the tubes (fitting around the bottle) in some applications , and they hold the Coke bottle shape better?
