BTW the denon 3802 had these power transistors, in complimentary pairs, 5 pins per transistor, and in all of those the 2 left ones were soldered together with nice solder, the center was by itself and the 2 right ones were soldered together but they were barely soldered, Its like they started to solder and changed their mind.
Well 795 first, its a lot sipler than that denon.

The yamaha 795 - well, I am not sure what and how it was, but I resolered all the solder joints to the 6 transistors - and its almost like they know that needs to be done, its got a smaller panel on the underside you can take off without removing anything else in the amp.
So anyway I get it soldered and hit the power button with that panel still off and the amp still upside down, and it comes on and stays on.
I think wowee ... that was it.
The next time it clicks it self off again.
I go WTF ...
Then 10 on/off's later ... it stays on.
Then 10 more on/off's and it stays on.
Then 5 more.
Then 2 more ...
OK now it works.
Maybe the on off switch needed to be pumped and I tore the amp apart for no reason, then soldered the transistors ...
No clue, and the onkyo is next.

The RX- V 795 has been working a few days now. I call it as fixed.
The denon 3802 - I repeated my trick of soldering the transistors, cleaning the heat sink compound and putting in new with new mica. That seems to work and its been tested albeit in shorter intervals and it seems to hold.
The onkyo - I found a very badly soldered Q951 transistor in it. I pulled it off and it actually looked like it had some signs of overheating. However it tested good in my transistor tester. I put it back in. Still the thing isn't working, in fact I tested various spots for the right voltage etc, still nothing.
