short circuit protection for computer SMPS

I use my computer's SMPS to get +12V, 0V and +5V. n use them to power up my prototype boards. sometime due to wrong circuit, or wrong wiring or just anything else the negative and the positive terminal get shorted, and then you know excessive heat destroy my prototype board's IC or any other components. This occurred for 2 times.

Now can anybody help me to construct the circuit for +12V short circuit protection?

But, AT ( or ATX ) power supply already have short circuit protection.
