Hi,
I find myself with a pair of these and making an excuse to use them.
Selenium D250-X GW 1" Phenolic Horn Driver 1-3/8"-18 TPI
I frequent an automotive garage that could really use some speakers in there so I am looking to make a "long throw" speaker that will shoot down the shop.
I was thinking a 10" and this hornloaded driver or four 6.5" woofers around it.
Ideally I could get 50-5k Hz out of the speaker at a reasonable volume (95-100 db) from a 50 watt chip amp.
What are the suggestions for a 12db high pass for the horn at around 500Hz?
Any suggestions on enclosures?
Maybe a square Synergy horn I think its called?
EDIT: Found it.. Something like this with the four 6.5" woofers around this mid horn?
Synergy Horns-Dayton and PRV.....

I use that driver on a mid horn and quite like it. For the price it's rather good. Much better than the FR graph tells you. Unfortunately you can't squeeze blood from a stone and you'll want a tweeter to go with it. Even a cheap bullet or slot unit will be fine. As for bass, I would opt for an inexpensive 15" PA driver, as a 10" won't be enough for that shop.
What XO do you use on that horn driver? Active or passive? And if passive what freq and if you care to share the schematic...
Originally passive then active with the Behringer CX2310's. It's been a while but IIRC, it worked well from 700-4k using an Altec 511 horn, that I built an adapter for.
