Shielding and projection tv's

Speakers next to a rear projection TV preferably should be shielded, but nowhere near so perfectly as for direct view tv's. Interestingly, often the center channel is not the critical item, since the tubes for the tv are close to the bottom of the cabinet. If you have tower speakers with built in subwoofers close to the bottom of the speaker cabinet, then these woofers could cause interference to the tv. Often times, you may get away with no shielding, particularly if the front speakers are bookshelf types, and are not placed right up against the sides of the tv.
