first post, so go easy 🙂
I would like to build a center channel to sit on top of my computer monitor, using a single Audax AP100G0. I've built several subwoofers before, but this is my first attempt at anything over 100hz. I'm sticking with a single speaker design in order to experiment with different types of enclosures, without having to worry about complicated crossovers.
The AP100G0 is a shielded 4" driver. Just how close can I have this speaker to my computer monitor without causing damage? I've heard that shielding is not 100% perfect in negating the magnetic field, and I'd hate to ruin my monitor.
Some of the designs I've considered put the bottom of the magnet at less than 2 inches from the monitor.. is this too close?
