Sherwood RV5030R processor

I don't normally repair domestic amps but I was asked to repair a sherwood
RV5030R. I found the 6 volt regulator blown and was supplying around 11 volts to to the Inkel/Sherwood DWP422 CXP50116 processor.
I have replaced the voltage regulator and replaced the processor.
The processor was purchased from UTsource and the part number was CXP50116
I have a feeling I have installed a blank processor. I can see the clock crystal is working. These Sony chips seem to be used from brand to brand of hifi stereo.
My question is do they contain a program for each brand and variation
or are they just a generic processor loaded with a generic program.
I can find no issue for the switch matrix that I know can lock up some processors.
The unit won't come out of standby. I have checked everything I can think off
any ideas anyone

These parts usually have a -xxxQ suffix to denote custom programming. If that doesn't match between the new and old parts, chances are things won't work. Original replacements tend to be available via the manufacturer's spares distribution only.

If the clock was running in the original processor, the odds are it was OK.
You must replace it with the exact mask type otherwise the programme will be wrong or not programmed at all.

I have ordered a processor from the manufacture
So I will see if Im on the right trail.
It will be a great learning exercise

Meanwhile you can check more voltages and maybe swap out the odd small electrolytic in the vicinity (the occasional cause for a non-working processor even when all voltages are fine, typically a result of it being kept in reset when the RC time constant is leaky or crashing when supply isn't stable).
