Hi all,

I desperately want to build a stand-alone nonos dac based on brand new Philips chipset SAA7210+SAA7220+TDA154... with coaxial and/or optical input.

So far, I am pretty determine about circuits regarding TDA1541 or TDA1543 (circuits drown by sig. Giorgio Pozzoli from www.tnt-audio.com), but don't know almost anything about topology, sorrounding components and power supply necessary for SAA7210 and SAA7220.

All I have for SAA7210/7220 are some sort of datasheet, circuit fragments from Philips CD960 and Revox b226 (not very clear) and cut/remove 3 wire tweak for nos operation.

Help from digital masters like Guido Tent, Kuei Yang Wang, Jean-Paul, Elso Kwak, Peter Daniel and many others will be wellcome!

Regards, Ivo

You only need a CS8412 and the TDA1541 or TDA1543 really for building a non os DAC. There are several schematics out there how to implement two inputs ( optical and coax SPDIF ).

The SAA7220 is needed when you want to build an 4 fs OS DAC !

Please Google on "non oversampling DAC" and do a Search here, you'll find more than you need to make it a successful project.

For example:

or:

Be careful with this one as I think there are small errors in the CS8412 modes. Not enough time to check now.

BTW I am by no means a digital master. Just a hobbyist with a twist 😉
