I just bought a Sharp QA-1650, i was reading that it has 640X480 res. what kind of color range does it have?...also what do you think of this panel?

as for color range, i believe it's at around 2 million colors.
Dont' quote me on that cause i can't remember exactly. But I'm really sure it's 2million. Unless it's the whole 16 million??? damn... now i'm confused...

I actually haven't tried 800x600 on the panel yet, though it suppsoed to support.... but probably doesn't look very nice... :-/
I also have the 1650. I tried the 800x600 but couldnt get all of my desktop on the screen for some reason. I am very pleased with the quality when used with my PC. My DVD payer had issuses
with certian DVD's. I am useing a 92"x72" "ish" matte white pulldown screen that I got second hand and very cheap.
I recently switched overhead projectors and I noticed that the screen door effect with the new overhead is now barely noticeable even at that screen size. you have to be about 2' or less to really notice it. I have read that when the fresnel lens is closer to the lcd it helps with the screen door effect. I can say that it looks like this true.
My only complaint is that this panel does not have very good contrast. none of the projection panels do compared just about any newer lcd monitor. Even with my Dukane 670 (575 watt halide bulb) it still has problems with darker scenes.
That aside, the panel seems to be fast enough that I havent noticed any ghosting or blur in fast scenes when useing my computer for playback. I did have some problems with that and the colors doing funky things when I was using the composite video and my regular dvd player, but only with a couple of the dvds that I have.
BTW, the colors on this panel are quite good with the halide light source. things were a little too red with the halogen overhead I was useing before.
All in all I think its a very good panel to start off with.
