Hi everyone, first time poster but avid reader. I have all the parts ready to make my first lcdpanel ohp projector.
I also placed this thread under lcd but in retrospect this is probably the better forum for it.
My lcd panel is a sharp qa-1650 and I'm having major problems with it. I've tried using both svideo and component video and plugging it into my computer and none of it has worked.
For svideo and component video when I switch to video mode the screen appears all in black. I've tried with 2 different svideo cables and 2 different dvd players so I don't imagine the problem is with them.
I'm sure that colour can work on the screen because the sharp logo appears just fine.
I was thinking that maybe some settings need to be adjusted, if so any idea which? I also understand from the manual that there is a way to reset all, however, my manual is instructing me to push a button that doesn't exist (a , button strangely enough). Does anyone maybe know how to do a reset all?
All the info I've given is to let you guys know what I've done but the truth is I really don't have much of a clue so I'd appreciate any advice I could receive.
Thanks alot.

Hi! I was wondering if you were ever able to get your problem resolved as I am having the same problem albeit with another panel but thought that prehaps you might have found a solution that would help me as well.
thanks,
thanks,
is there a input button on the panel i had a 1650 but cant remember also if you have the remote i know there is a input button there also the button the manual says to push is that the reset button ? i have a sharp 1800 sitting next to me and it has a reset button on it but it is slighty diffrent then the 1650. oh and mine is for sale and in like new condition and does 800x600 res it will be going on ebay soon. oh another thing your panel only does 640 x 480 if your using a comp for video make sure you resolution is set to the 640 x 480 i guess since you tested all the inputs its likely not to be one is bad unless all are bad and that is a posability. anyways good luck
LCD problem...
Hi Guyz... I am too facing a problem interfacing the LCD with the light source. It just works fine when the lamp is off. But the moment I put ON the lamp, the LCD has a big foggy patch on it, and also starts waving. I tried putting off the lamp and holding a bright torch behind the LCD... it works fine. Any inputs?

sounds like a heat issue
if the lcd is getting hot, you will see spots, and wavy parts of the image, also check that your power cables sometimes a bad cable will give you artifacts.

Re: sounds like a heat issue
Hey gregory27... thanx for your response.!!! But you know what.... I have checked all those possibilities that you have mentioned about. My design makes use of a mirror that will bend the light to be passed through the LCD. the moment I take off the mirror, the LCD is normal... I can se that by holding a torch behind it. There's no foggy patch, neither any waves. If I put back the mirror, the problem starts again the very next moment. Besides, I also have adequate cooling for the LCD. My feeling is that the UV rays from the lamp might be causing trouble. What say..???

try using some lexan
if you are getting UV interference, either get some UV lexan(from a hardware store) or a filter, but with a projection panel, the glass should be UV treated already

Re: try using some lexan
That's the trouble, buddy.... it's not a projection panel. I have stripped a Car roof mount LCD for this use.
