Sharp QA-1650 Brightness

Hello, I read awhile back that multiplexor had figured out how to improve the brightness on the Sharp QA-1650 by tweaking a variable resistor on the board. Does anyone have this information again? I have completed my projector but found the 1650 panel brightness to be sort of sub par. Thanks 🙂 jmkjmn

Hey man 🙂

Had I answered your email with the info to do this? I think it was you i had emailed back right?

If so, and if you want to, you can post the info here for others to read... I no longer have that email 🙁

woops!!! hehe hey man, thanks for reminding me!!! 🙂

K heh here goes!! 😀

What you have to do is open up the panel and look at the L shaped riser card, right beside the rca svideo inputs...

See the silver pieces on the board? They're the variable resistors...

you should see 3 of them side by side. (if the input connectors are facing you, then the left side of the L shaped riser card has the 3 variable resistors on it. Ok, now to modify the brightness, look at those 3 resistors (visual placement), ok now move your eyes up higher away from you, and a bit to the right, you should see another silver variable resistor. That's the brightness adjuster.

I tested mine while the screen was on. As long as your carefull you won't have a problem. Just be extremely carefull to not touch anything else... 🙂

If you are still not sure, then open the panel up, and snap some shots of the card, I can circle what exactly to modify 🙂

Also, I never tried this for the rca/s-vid connections, only the vga.

But I'm assuming that those 3 resistors side by side will modify the red/green/blue when using the other connections... If someone wants to try, i'd be curious 🙂

Hey 🙂

I would post up some pics of it.... but unfortunatly I sold the panel a couple of months ago 🙁

I had decided to attempt an in car mp3' system... 😀

but.... if you have the panel and would like to take pics of it, you can send me an email of the pictures, and i'll host them up for others to see. I'll even circle exactly what resistor to modify 🙂
