i'm starting this new thread because some of the old threads addressing this issue are old and tend to fall away from the subject. just in case anyone is interested, i think i've found a temporary solution for the black and white problem after searching the forums. i found a contrast mod, and thought, well, i might as well try it. it worked, so- so. then i got to thinking that the color problem may be able to be fixed the same way, so i was looking at the video card and i noticed two resistors right above the s-video port. i assume, since s-video has four pins: 2 grounds, one for picture and the other for color, that these two resistors control picture and color. so i got out a little flathead and gave the one on the right just a little turn and i get color. the only problem with this is that i have to give it a little turn everytime i start the projector up, but my top is hinged anyway, so no big deal for me. if anyone has any other insights as to a better way to solve this problem, i'd be glad to hear them, but in the meantime, i hope ths helps anyone with the same problem.
