Check out this panel i won on Ebay. I got it for the parts but I am troubleshooting it to see if I can fix it. It will power on with the fan going. The fuses are good.
I hooked up a video source but no combination of button pushing (through the remote and manually) had an effect. Does the Sharp panel start up with some kind of splash screen or does it just stay blank?
Any suggestions would be helpfulhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5115397371&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

I have a QA1500, it's a great panel if all you do is watch movies on it like I do. But to answer your question, no it doesn't have a splash screen. When you first turn it on, it will say "No Signal" in the bottom right hand corner. After you've plugged in your VGA or Video connection, click the "Input" button until you see the connected device display to the screen.
If all it's showing is lines and you have a VGA device connected to it, make sure it's set to 640x480 resolution. I thought mine was broke too when I first plugged it in, but my laptop was set to 1024x768. Once I lowered the resolution and pressed the "Input" button, it was all good. Hope this helps. You got a great deal by the way (if it works).

The remote should have a button marked "Input". It's used to change the input device (vga, video, etc...) If you don't have the remote, I'm not sure how to change the input device. I have the user manual at home, I'll check it this evening and get back to you on that.

If you don't have the remote, you can switch input modes using the buttons on the top of the panel. Here's the direct quote from the user manual:
On the Panel: press and hold the SELECT button, then press the + button to switch inputs.
If the screen is white when you turn it on, then it might be in CLEAR mode. But even if it is you should be able to see the on screen menu on the lcd panel. Does the red ON light come on when you turn on the panel?

Ok, then there is probably something wrong internally. I would recommend disassembeling (sp?) it and make sure all the internal connections are connected properly.
I've taken mine apart several times, it's not too complicated. Just take out all the screws from the back and then turn it over so the the top is facing up. Then carefully lift off the top cover, but be carefull because there is one wire that connects to the ON light. Just disconnect that wire from the light and then you can remove the top cover completely. Just do a quick check of all the connections in the board, there are only about 3 or 4.

I know that I'm necroposting an old post, but I happen to have just been gifted with a Sharp QA-1400 (the 1500 but without the PCMCIA slot) and was in need of a manual. If you can help me out, I'd be forever grateful.
