Shared information - Drive JBL/Selenium 15SW5P
Hi to all,
After my first soon born my free time was all converted into his need and after some months I'm slowly finding time to back to sound environment 🙂
The top cab project is on hold for a while, and two of my TH subs are still missing the drivers and this brings me to this thread.
Has anyone, experience with the driver JBL 15SW5P? Looks like it's a new model from 15SW family where the 1P was the 1st and the best one, then the 3P maybe was focused on cost reduction, now the 5P might be a good compromise.
The construction looks very solid, and compared to the driver I originally used at TH project (Snake HPX2150) it has a big improvement related to heat transfer that helps to reduce power compression at high power. It also has double spider with rubber impregnation and coil with fiber glass former that I can't confirm if Snake has equivalent specification. Finally it's cheaper U$ 136 vs U$ 184 (Current Reais rate 3,90 R$/U$).
The doubtful points are:
Considering above data, is this driver a good option for TH and to replace the Snake HPX2150?
Weight: 10,9kg vs 12kg

The doubtful points are:
too low EBP: (Fs/Qes) 89,13 vs 167,35
Higher Qes: 0,430 vs 0,239
slightly lower BL^2/Re: 80,7 vs 86,5
