Service Manual Philips CD480 & 380

Hey Guys,
I just found sharefx.com - an excellent site for service manuals - I downloaded Panasonic SA-XR55 & SA-XR57 service manuals that a user uploaded for me for free.

Just upload a manual you have & make a request for manuals you want - keep an eye on the site for the next couple of hours and somebody will upload the manual for you. I also received a service manual for a washing machine control board that I needed to fix.

You need to keep checking the site for a couple of hours after your request as I think only the last 50 posts are visible to non-account members. You can buy a subscription & download any archived manuals

It seems to have set top boxes (STB) & car manuals also!

Is it possible to get a copy of the CD-380 Service Manual?

My recently acquired unit has problems with its spindle motor drive. The arm seems to do the startup routine OK (the transport is fully functional – as tested in another player), but the spindle won't turn. So far, I've found 2 shorted transistors in the motor drive, but I need a service manual to continue with the troubleshooting…

My email is _________@hotmail.com (please substitute the blank space with scorpioddmf, and if the file is over 10MB in size, please use the "split" option in your archiving program).

Thanks in advance

Cheers!

No, i don't have CD380, but i have Philips CD480 shematic.
Is that CD480 shematic ok for U, then i'll send it?
Reggards!

Well, it certeanly wouldn't hurt 🙂

I don't know how much (or if) the two are similar, but if they even share the remotely same architecture, it would be helpful.

Also, it would be nice to find a service mode on this unit to help diagnose the problem (none of the button combinations known to me worked so far :whazzat: ).

BTW: How's the CD614 project going?

Thanks!

Ok then, I've found from my archives scaned shematics of Philips CD350. You got mail with CD480 and CD350. Hope that helps. 😎

CD614 project goin' very well, thank You. I've passed opamp amplifier and use signal directly from TDA1543. Sound is OK.

Now I'm working on project with some strange CD Player that I've won from ebay. Palladium CD Player. The paradox is that CD player is original old from Germany. And what was my suprise when i open it and see that everything including chips and optic is Yamaha - Made in Japan... The sound now is so soft and tender. I hope made it more precise, etc...

Reggards!

Thank You for the service manuals.

For anyone trying to fix a CD380, the CD380 and 480 aren't quite the same, but the CD480 service manual can be used for troubleshooting (for one example, the service modes are the same).

Also, 480 has somewhat similar PCB, but uses a different decoder and there are some differences in the other circuits, but luckily for me - the spindle motor drives are the same. The CD350 is a different beast altogether…

This was my initial problem. After replacing the pnp transistor and two 4,7 Ohm "fuse" resistors, the unit is now fully functional (although, rather bad sounding in the stock form 🙄 ).

Sure hope that the only cause of the blowout was a dodgy transistor…

Thanks again, Cheers!
