I am on GMT in the south of the UK, with a 38/7 Mbs connection via BT:
I guess I try and read the forum 3 or 4 times a day, roughly evenly spaced.
I think about one in 10 attempts gets me a "waiting for ..." message, sometimes for a minute or so, and then it connects.
I have set LMHOSTS pointers as suggested. I use Google via W7 on a local server 2003 domain. As an ex IT manager, I do know what I am doing. Some of the time 😉
No other internet service gives similar problems, or anything like it.
FWIW. I am not expecting miracle solutions.
Respect to Jason!

Have made a variety of changes, done some housekeeping to free memory up... I'll keep an eye on things over today. I'll also be doing a variety of server software upgrades over the next few days.
Today's downtime is under investigation. During some large file transfers the server became unresponsive and after a reboot from the console required disk checking which dragged out the downtime. Further analysis will be forthcoming.
Probably move to a more redundant and failure resistant cloud setup later this year.

Apache crashed, have restarted it and seems ok now. First time that's happened in a while.
BTW, the problems experiences on March 13th problems were resolved last month with our host. Looks like it was a one-off.
