I searched and searched, and could not find any links concerning SERIES crossover theory, even though I remember it being discussed by Planet10 (I think). Any links? Anyone?
Thanks

My boss wants to build a pair of speakers for $50, I told him I'll tell him what to get, so i figure what the hell, I'll give a series xover a shot.
In addition, on the fourth of july, there is a large block party on my block. Every year my neighbor puts his crappy speakers up in his window, and a local audio fan spins the plastic. This year, I let the neighbor use my first project, an 8" two way for small pa use. They were a big hit! (well, most people didn't notice, I am sure, but those who did told me about it). A few people asked me to build them speakers, and I said, ok, when I get out of college😀
Thanks

Hey ! that's my site !!!
Hi Bob and Glenn,
enjoy the collection of "STUFF" about series x-os.
remember, I make no claims of the correctness or otherwise of anything on the subject.
YES. I use series cross overs for all my hifi speaker designs.
WHY? i) because I like the sound qualities, and ii) I want to find out more about what works and what doesn't.
There are many other using parallel filters, so I decided, after pushing from Clayton Oxendine and comments from Bub Fried, that I would try to stick exclusively to series x-os. everything else comes from experimentation and "things I have noticed"
SO !!! have fun reading all the stuff, and if you decide to play, have fun playing with them. Any questions, ask by email ! I will try to help, but I aint no expert on them !!!!!

I have the vifa XT25 and a Dynaudio 17W75LQ-08. Would I be able to use the values suggested in the AR site or there r better alternatives (with or without caps)?

I can't help you with the AR series x-o. All I can say is I tried it once and couldn't get it right with the drivers I was using (and I tried quite hard!!). Ended up back with a standard 1st order series.

Thanx Andy, for the advice.
I'll try your series XO calculator again and see if I can understand it this time 'round!
