a new project is ready
the trombone, a double horn
using the effect of
membran movement interlacing
and horn mouth distance,
down to 38 Hz with driver resonances
of 135 Hz ??!!

any comments?

Hi,
I can't work out what happens to the terminus of the front horn,
does this radiate out of the top ? or simply join the other horn
at this point ? confusing..........
The two drivers Fs should be lower than 130Hz and Qts < 0.6.
The loading of the horn appears to be effective down to 40Hz.
🙂/sreten.

It happens!
I can´t help it it is nearly the same
listenable effect like the SAXOPHON.
measurements follows.
The diagram shows single simulations,
how looks the sum of it?
Yes, 2 oktaven below the resonance frequenz,
it might change the rules in future.
If it works, nobody needs 2-4 way constructions any longer.

sensational horn for an 10"
similar to a design I have started in some respects, thankfully I have prior art and emails to proove.(not so lucky with the "spiral horn mathematics" though)
Double tuned horns are quite interesting..how do yours sound..

Interesting. Ok, so it's a bipole horn with differential tuning for each driver.(?) Wouldn't the out of phase resonances cancel each other out, creating a comb effect? What am I missing (besides an understanding of horn theory)?

Nanook,
only dynamic is weeker as the Saxophon,
the sound is more astonishing as the Sax,
a new acoustic door is opened.
measurements follows.
maxro,
if you miss my horn-understanding ask your question,
and look my side.
How works a alphorn or a kontrafagott etc.

The concept of filling in one comb filter with another seems interesting. But you need to proove it - at least with some simulation at listening distance. That cone movement diagram doesn´t satisfy really.
Did you think about taking out one driver at ~200 Hz?

Hallo Rudolph,
how looks the sum of the single movement simulations?
the measurements next week will show.
The drivers are so close to each other that you listen
more to a toriodic system.
The simus show no bass below 70 Hz and 10 dB
to much at >200 Hz, the measurements will show
the opposite, the same as the SAXOPHON.
