As I have two pairs of these drivers for surround loudspeakers purchased some years ago I was looking what others have done with these 15 euro fullranges.

Now I think about what to do with them (no surround sound system at the moment).

Here information I gathered on this one

Don't know how they manage to have this Q factor with such a big magnet

its suspended stiff so its not a long cone travel

it can't have a 50mm voice coil either if I look on the size of the dustcap

in my surround sound system it would have been linearized by Denon Audyssey microphone measurement so I did not take care about Q factor or FS.

I will try to measure the Rockwood DY811u driver in an enclosure.

Still cannot believe its got such a high Q (1.7) although it has a decent looking magnet.

If the Q factor is as high as stated: one idea is to match the mid frequencies to the high efficiency in the bass.

in a normal 35 liter reflex box tuned to 80 hz WinISD put out this frequency response (+10db at 116hz)

Watching at a graph from Bill Fitz Maurice (bfm) with designs from his wedgehorns (short front horns for the mids) the frequencies above 150hz could be raised by ten decibels. Instead of using EQ to pad the bump in the bass down. The bump in the bass can be adjusted and raised in frequency by reducing the volume of the box.

the wedgehorn is a bit complicated to be built but maybe a simpler one will give some gain of 6db instead of ten decibels
