Comparing it to the IRFP240, it has comparable Coss and Crss
and about half the Ciss.
Place in an Aleph J type circuit, I have noticed about twice
the bandwidth.

I was not able to drop the SS R100 right into the AJ clone with 240 as CCS.
I noticed the AJ 'type' circuit 🙂 I dropped it into a Mini-A circuit, without too much trouble. I am not too sure what Ciss (less capacitance) means to changing the overall circuitry, if any.

The R100 has a lower Vgs than the IRFP240, so you need to
lower the value of the resistance from the Drain of Q1 to V- in
to bias it correctly. I use a potentiometer there.

I had the pot on R8, not R7 (which I beleive is what NP is recommending). DC offset was reasonable playing with R8 if I remember, but the front end I figured was not right. It would just thump, thump, thump when hooked up to a speaker.
Yes, I've learned to deal with DC offset without a cap at output 🙂 I am learning a little bit.

I'd prefer to think of giving the donkey a new look and life. A little lipstick, and pretend it's a horse.
I'll freely admit to trying to get a good chip shot out of papa once in awhile.😀 Helping me make it to the 18th hole.

This article is a bit dated, but as an anecdotal note I find it quite entertaining: Semiconductor Today. It's also on semisouth's website: SemiSouth Laboratories, Inc. | News.
Hi, Nelson!
The guys at the SemiSouth factory did not think, that someone produces audiophile amplifier of their transistors.
Is my assumption correct according to you?

Probably they look on it with some amusement.
That's OK by me, they keep shipping parts and cashing checks.

You know, Nelson, I has always respected your knowledge of engineering and your innovative talent with which you discover opportunities in these parts.

- Semisouth SiC JFETs: SJEP120R100 or SJEP170R550 better for building amp?
